Search Engine Optimisation
Introduction
The world of search engine optimization is evolving at an
alarming rate, particularly with Google
who have effectively re-written the rule book when it comes
to achieving a high search engine position.
About 2-3 years ago there were tried and tested methods for
achieving a very good search position, however this somewhat
polluted the search listings with directory sites, viagra
substitutes and general rubbish. Reacting to this, Google
radically changed the way it ranked it's sites and moved the
focus from 'on page criteria' such as title tags and keywords
to 'off page' criteria such as link popularity (the amount
of other quality sites linking in to your site) and page rank
(the measure of importance Google places on your site). Admitedly,
that is a over simplified description of what is an enormously
complicated algorithm.
How we evaluate if we can work with your website
The first thing we do is look at your market place. Certain
markets are just too over saturated to compete in, and these
include Dating, Pornography, Loans, certain Job markets and
Prescription drugs. In these markets, unless your site is
extremely well built and you have an exsisting good page rank,
we can only help you with a Pay Per Click campaign, in most
cases, Google
Adwords.
Next thing we look at is the build quality, navigation and
design of the site. If the site is dynamic (drawing data from
a database) then how is this being done? Are the URL's too
long and are the correct tags being written from the template
page etc, and are the search engines able to read every page
on the site? Any page that cannot be read by the search engine
is a lost opportunity.
Next, we look at content. Search engines particularly favor
sites with good relevant content that is providing a useful
addition to the internet. For example, if you are selling
green widgets, then what can you offer a search engine to
list your site higher than all the other green widget sellers.
Linking possibilities: Is it possible to have a links page
on your site and are you able to procure links from other
partners and similar businesses?
Finally, we look at you and your business. Are you able to
give us the support that we need to make this work. By that
we mean help with supplying extra content, adopting a linking
strategy and assigning someone in the business to help with
this and also providing us with the access to the site (FTP
details etc) that is required.
Costs
The cost of any project is largely dependant on the outcome
of the evaluation. There are some cases where all the factors
are right, but the build of the site itself is too unfriendly
to the search engines to warrant adjustments. In those cases,
we can only rebuild the site from scratch using as similar
design to the original as possible whilst building in all
the neccessary search friendly tags.
Our fees consist of initial setup work and ongoing monthly
maintenance which includes comprehensive statistical reporting
and search position analysis.
As each project is bespoke, it is only possible to give example
pricing:
Example 1:
15 page static website with existing low page rank and
low-mid market competitiveness
£500.00 or $1000.00 setup fees
£65.00 or $120.00 per month - reporting, maintenance
and analysis
Example 2:
Mid size dynamic content e-commerce site, low-mid market
competitiveness
£2000.00 or $3800.00 setup fees
£150.00 or $290 per month - reporting, maintenance and
analysis
Reporting

Each client that signs up to our service is assigned their
own online control panel from where they can see exactly what
their current search engine position is for their chosen key
phrases. It is also possible to see exactly what the current
monthly fee is.
An example of this can be seen by using the client login
on the home page and using the username: search and
password: master
